NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinators in Early Years Settings

The Course

This Early Years Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) qualification is suitable for a Level 3 practitioner in an early years setting (including childminders) who are already working in a SENCo role or have interest in doing so. All early years providers must have arrangements in place to identify and support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), promoting equality and the best possible educational outcomes for all.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be 16 years of age and have already obtained a Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator).

The total qualification time is 34 hours with 24 hours of this being guided learning hours.

To obtain this qualification, the learner must successfully complete the 2 mandatory units below:

  • Roles and responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator in the Early Years
  • Strategies and techniques for supporting children and families

Assessment

A portfolio of evidence needs to be provided and a non-mandatory internal assessment will be given at the end of the qualification. This qualification does not include an external assessment.

Progression Opportunities

After achieving this qualification, learners can progress to higher education in Special Educational Needs and other relevant sectors.

Cost

£350 total with the option of interest free instalment payments with a minimum of £50/month.
